Robin Ok...so I am learning.
I need to decide what, kind, country or period, of castles I am more interested in. In all honestly, I don't see a big difference in them. When I see one castle that looks different from another, I just figured it was different people that built it. So where do I go to learn the difference of castles. I am a beginner here, go easy on me!

Erik Schmidt Robin, why do you need to pick a particular type of castle to heap your attention on? I like many kinds of stone buildings, castles being among them, particularly the early ones. After the 15th c the castle no longer served the same need and the new architectural additions and alterations often become 'contradictory' to the original structure.
You will find that, as you become more familiar with castles, the differences become more obvious and you may even start to recognise some of the regional styles, as well as the timeperiod of some of the elements which make up a castles, some having been added to for almost 1000 years.
Many differences between castles do come down to the people who built them, or more importantly, the people who had them built.
Your local library may have a good book on castles, explaining some of the characteristics of castles in relation to time and region(builder).
'Castles of Europe', by William Anderson is good.
